Let’s start with an update on the current market and some industry trends.

Nothing too expensive for the little ones

First things first: The market development promises a good outlook for providers of kids’ furniture, toys as well as baby and toddler outfitting. One of the reasons is that after all more babies were born since the low in 2011. Furthermore it seems that parents and relatives are willing to spend quite a budget for their beloved ones: For everything a baby needs for a good start into life German parents spent 2,976 Euro on average in 2013 – four percent more than the year before. Spendings increased also in families with multiple children: For the second child German parents still spent 1,400 Euro per children (2012: 1,300 Euro).

Children as a target group become more and more important. Total expenditure demonstrates this: One-seventh of all furniture produced in Germany is furniture for children. “Only the best” – this is also the motto for toys, strollers and child car seats. All of this equipment has to be safe and high-quality, harmless with regard to health, sustainable and ideally multifunctional.

Multifunctional and addressing all senses

Parents set great store by natural materials that are tested on harmful substances. Furniture in white or made of bright natural wood and modular in design; easy to combine and able to grow with the children’s living requirements are very popular. An example are beds for children that can easily be transformed into a teenager bed and after that even into a sofa.

A high level of quality and sustainability shapes the trends of toys. Furthermore toys of pedagogical value are in demand, such as 3D activity covers training the senses and motor functions.
