With over 22,000 visitors from 112 countries – and thus an increase of almost 5 percent – as well as 1,204 exhibitors from 53 countries, Kind + Jugend set a new record. In terms of its level of internationality, the world’s leading trade fair for the baby and toddler’s outfitting sector recorded further growth again. Around 86 percent (plus 2 percent) of the exhibiting companies came from abroad in 2016.

“The continual growth in the number of trade visitors and exhibitors confirms the international standing of Kind + Jugend as the industry’s most important visitor platform. We also set benchmarks regarding the quality of the offer in the worldwide comparison. Cologne is the only place where the industry professionals of the baby and toddlers’ outfitting sector can find more than 3,600 brands by high-quality leading brand manufacturers, small and medium-sized companies as well as start-ups with creative ideas,” commented Katharina C. Hamma, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse.

Industry’s undisputed leading trade fair

The members of the German Association of Children’s Outfitting Manufacturers e.V. (BDKH) were very pleased with the outcome of this year’s Kind + Jugend and see the event as the industry’s undisputed leading trade fair, both on a national and international basis. Michael Neumann, CEO of Dorel Germany and one of the initiators of the BDKH, summarised: “As in the past years the high level of internationality and the good attendance was especially accentuated on the first two days of the trade fair. A very positive mood among the dealers and visitors and the corresponding high readiness to place orders round off the positive picture. It is very pleasing that the positive trend doesn’t just apply for abroad, but that it is indeed also true for the German-speaking region.”

The visitor survey that is carried out every year also confirmed the good atmosphere at the trade fair. Above all the range of offers with high-quality and design-oriented products as well as the supporting programme that was tailormade to suit the target group went down well with the visitors. Particularly pleasing: 88 percent were satisfied or indeed very satisfied regarding having achieved their goals for the trade fair. Around 85 percent of the visitors questioned plan to participate at Kind + Jugend again in 2017.
