Mobility! En route with the child

Flexibility and comfort will once again play a major role in the baby and toddler outfitting sector in 2016 – an unabated trend in product areas such as pushchairs, car seats and baby carriers.

Flexibly on the move in all stages of life

The parents’ demands regarding mobile baby and toddlers’ products are still extremely high and this already applies for new-born babies. When the child is taken outdoors, besides aspects such as safety, quality, being light-weighted and compact, the parents especially rely on products that allow further development and can thus be used for longer. Here, combined pushchair and travel systems are extremely popular among many families, which mean that they only have to dip into their wallets once from the birth up until the end of the pushchair age. Such as, for example, pushchairs with a buggy attachment like those from the F-series by Gesslein, which can be implemented as additional components in a fast and simple way. This means it is no longer necessary to buy a buggy later on. (more…)

Support at every stage!

It is well conceivable that it hasn’t been so easy for the jury of international industry experts to finally choose the nominees for the Kind + Jugend Innovation Award 2015. All together 130 companies from 25 countries handed in 174 innovative products. Now the nominees in eight categories are chosen and announced. On September 10th (10.00 am in hall 10.1) to the beginning of the fair trade the winners are going to be selected.

However, the Innovation Award is only one of six support projects through what the Kind + Jugend wants to support young companies and designers and also established brand manufacturers at every stage of their market participation: from prototype up to a successful brand product.

Baby Boom: good prospects for the sector

According to the German Federal Statistical Office (“Statistisches Bundesamt”), the birth rate has risen by 4.8 percent in 2014. At the same time more and more parents are willing to invest more money in their offspring: in 2014 parents spent around 1,058 euros per child in the first three years of their life, these are 3 percent more than the same period in 2013. Particularly manufacturers of strollers and child seats can benefit from that – since 2011 the sector is pleased with uninterrupted growth. (more…)

Today’s kids have hardly outgrown their toddler years when they find themselves in the middle of the digital world. For quite some time, not only teenagers, but also younger children – even the youngest ones – spend their time with smartphones, tablets or on a computer.
55 per cent of the eight-year-olds go online on a regular basis; among the six-year-olds, 28 per cent use the Internet, and even 11 per cent of the three-year-olds do. And the numbers are rising, according to a study by the German Institute for trust and safety on the Internet (“Deutsches Institut für Vertrauen und Sicherheit im Internet, DIVSI“) which was commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs (“Bundesfamilienministerium”). Evidently, the favourite pastime of kids on the internet is gaming: 89 percent of the surveyed three-to-eight-year-olds confirmed this. (more…)
